All I know so far ‘is mainly looking at the pink side of Pink

Expect a few reviewers to see some red after watching “P! Nk: Everything I Know So Far”.

They are provided with ammunition. The documentary displays hagiographic tendencies towards the dazzlingly successful pop star. It also cuts most of P’s songs! Nk, a little weird because the movie has her playing on tour. It’s like going to a home run derby and finding out that the sluggers have decided to only hit the pop-ups. And if you’re looking for unscripted moments where things can get complicated, you won’t find many here. The film has four writers, including P! Nk.

That said, his fans, and I am one of them, probably won’t care, and for good reason. First of all, she is so likable and secondly, she is so talented. His hits include “Get the Party Started”, “Just like a Pill”, “So What” and “What About Us”. My favorite is “Who Knew”. The 41-year-old singer-songwriter from Doylestown, Pa., Has been a hit machine for over 20 years.

The “hook” of the film is that P! Nk, nÃ©e Alecia Beth Moore, takes her family – husband Carey Hart, daughter Willow, 8, and son Jameson, 2 – with her on tour, specifically the 2019 “Beautiful Trauma” World Tour including: 156 shows in 18 countries. Here the film follows the clan from Amsterdam to London with stops in between.

What the film shows is that even rock stars have to contend with the often trying balance of motherhood and career. Of course, being a multimillionaire can take some of the advantage as P! Nk has never had to worry about finding affordable child care. However, this does not decrease separation anxiety.

People who don’t know P! Nk will likely be impressed by her high-flying stage shows that feature gymnastic stunts – she trained as a competitive gymnast as a child – and aerial acrobatics that likely make her insurance company cringe and applaud the Cirque du Soleil.

P! Nk lets his hair down – or should he be teased? – when she describes the pain she endured at her fifth year birthday party that no one showed up to. The movie could have used more of those moments. His parents’ divorce, his marital problems, his early career (no artist escapes the wound of rejection) – too many details about his life, details that made P! Nk what it is, get the surface treatment from Australian director Michael Gracey here. The movie is Gracey’s second after â€œThe Greatest Showmanâ€ of 2017. Her background is in visual effects and at least that skill is put to good use here as the act of P! Nk is a visual sensation.

The franchise of P! Nk manages to find her place in the movie, and it’s hard not to root for someone who seems to have her playing together in a profession populated by helmets. See her “Stupid Girls” video for an example.

Reality is also emerging. When Willow has a fever, P! Nk wants to comfort her, but she knows that if she gets sick, her tour, with a lot of money at stake, could be in jeopardy. Then spectators would see red.
