Batman villain costume (2022) sparks hilarious tweets
Recently, new promotional images of The Riddler in The batman (2022) were posted online, which sparked some debate over the look of DC’s iconic villain. The promotional image and a recently released first preview of Funko Pop! Figures from the film featured Riddler’s entire outfit
In Matt Reeves The batman, the Riddler costume will forgo the character’s campy outfit in previous movies and comics. In the next movie, the Batman villain will wear an American military-inspired M65 field jacket instead of a green suit like in the comics or cartoons. This fits in with the grainy, dark approach that Reeves took over previous iterations.
The footage also showed the antagonistic character of Dano wearing a face mask in extremely cold weather commonly used by the military. The tactical approach of Riddler’s costume hides his identity and invokes a psychopathic vibe from the character.
Fans divided over The Riddler’s serial killer-inspired look in Reeves’ Batman (2022)
While several fans complained about the villain’s lack of resemblance to the comic book origin, a series of tweets mocked those who wanted Dano’s Riddler to have spotted his campy comic book costume. The debate also spawned several memes on the latter side.
What inspired The Riddler’s costume in The Batman (2022)?
When the first teaser featured the character of Dano, fans thought the actor might be playing the “Hush” version. However, the trailers later confirmed the character’s identity as Riddler.
In the 2019 DC animated film Batman: Shhh, Edward Nygma (The Riddler) assumed the identity of Hush. In contrast, in the comics, Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend Tommy Elliot was Hush. Hush wore a dark colored trench jacket with leather gloves in the comics while his head was covered in bandages. This may have partly inspired Paul Dano’s new look in the new movie.
that of batman Riddler appears to have been inspired by the real-life serial killer Zodiac, who plagued the San Francisco area in the late ’60s and early’ 70s. Like Dano’s Edward Nashton, Zodiac covered his face with a mask and would have worn glasses over them. Additionally, the serial killer also sported a cross-shaped symbol on his clothing.

The character of Dano in Reeves The batman also symbolizes his M65 campaign jacket in the recently released promotional photos. The similarities increase because Edward Nashton, in the upcoming film, is portrayed as a serial killer targeting corrupt officials in Gotham City.
