CUI organizes an art and design thesis exhibition
Islamabad: Department of Art and Design Thesis Exhibition was opened at Comsats University Islamabad (CUI) Art Gallery by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, Rector of Comsats University from Islamabad.
The 10th promotion of the Department of Art and Design presented their thesis show. Students presented their thesis projects in areas ranging from visual communication design, illustration, game design, graphic novel and animation projects. Speaking on the occasion, 2022 thesis coordinator Meezan Ali Mir congratulated the graduating students and said this is the most crucial phase in a student’s life. This year’s student set a higher benchmark for future students.
Head of Art and Design Department Amna Hashmi said the B. Design program at Comsats University has come a long way since its inception solely on the virtues and strengths of teachers and students who have defined the aesthetics and direction of the department through their works. .
The former Dean of the Department of Art and Design, Dr. Samra Mohsin, praised the faculty’s efforts to bring out the best in students and set a higher benchmark for future students. Speaking on the occasion, the Rector of Comsats University, Professor Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, praised the work of the students and said the importance of four years of individual research and creative studio practice is reflected in student work on a particular design narrative. We expect our recent graduates to become active leaders and responsible professionals in a competitive global industry, determined to reach their career milestones. He called on industry to visit the show and sponsor the design work of students who were on par with leading universities around the world. He also said that the visual arts hold the cure for various stresses and mental illnesses through empowering works of art. Thanking all attendees of the event, Farrah Mahmood, Chair of the Department of Art and Design, said the Bachelor of Design thesis is the conclusion of four years of study focused on extensive research and practice in the fields of visual arts and design.
