Michelle said: ‘Yes, let’s start with the smell. Thus, some of these superb original costumes were worn by several actors.

“They just kind of make a little buzz, and that’s normally at the end of the day, of course, because you’ve been there all day.

“And they just hum, and it’s not your scent, it’s like someone else’s scent.”

She added that she felt a lot more “free” as the series progressed and corsets fell out of fashion.

She said: “We could actually eat our lunches without feeling pain in the afternoon and be able to eat a full meal instead of being wary of how bloated we’d feel in that corset.”

Meanwhile, Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), has expressed her excitement about the costume change ahead of the new shoot.

She revealed: ‘I think going through the 20s becomes more exciting because the hems go up a bit, a more masculine seam.

They will be joined by Dominic West, who also opened the podcast about his experiences on set.

He said, “It’s very daunting to be on a show that’s been going on for so long, being such a big phenomenon and such a big hit.”

“I had never been to Highclere (castle) before… you walk up the driveway and you get to the top of the hill and there it is.

“It’s like a Disney castle and you can’t quite believe it’s real.

“It’s such an extraordinary outline against, against the horizon and…so that was the first kind of breathing.”

Meeting his cast mates, he added, “I had a whole day or two, even with Maggie Smith. I was sitting next to her at that famous dining table.

“I argue with her… she’s the funniest woman in the world and also the meanest.”

“It was fun sitting there talking to him, it was awesome and…all the actors sat down and you could see they had been doing this for so long.”

Dominic said the show’s meal scenes were “difficult” to film due to the heat and the need to film individual characters, but added that he was “like a kid in a candy store” throughout the process.
