MCU’s Simu Liu Shows Off His Insanely Toned Abs With ‘Shang-Chi’ Workout Routine

Newly created wonder Star Simu Liu has trained harder than ever to achieve her toned figure for Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings. The 25th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will star Liu as the lead role of the crime fighter, the very first Asian superhero, and will also boast a predominantly Asian cast.
The actor recently appeared on the June cover of Men’s Health magazine where he flaunted his amazingly toned abs and physique, the result of his intense Shang-Chi training.
Simu Liu did most of the stunts alone
According to Liu, he’s a “self-taught guy who likes to flip in his backyard” and is super proud of his transformation into Shang-Chi, who is a master of Kung Fu. The actor lifted weights and fed a fight choreography daily to prepare for his role in the film.
Liu shared the photos of his torn biceps on his social media accounts, joking that he “ditched Boba for weeks” for the photoshoot. He is the first person from East Asia to grace the cover, which surprised fans.

Men’s Health reported that the actor weighed up to 185 pounds and added ten pounds of muscle to his body for the role.
He already had training in martial arts such as Taekwondo, Wing Chun, and gymnastics from his stunt days, but the actor practiced stretching to become more flexible and practice Kung Fu.
The actor did most of the stunts in the film and previously revealed how a knife fight scene was filmed after â175 takesâ and âa gauze truckâ.

Simu Liu’s best-known role is his portrayal of Jung Kim on Canadian TV sitcom Kim’s convenience. In 2015, he appeared in three episodes of NBC’s Hero Reborn as a double stuntman as part of the stunt team. He was also a stunt double for Pete Wentz in the music video for Century, the iconic Fall out Boy song.
Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings is slated for release on September 3, 2021 and stars Awkwafina (Katy), Tony Leung Chu-wai (Mandarin), Fala Chen (Leiko Wu), Michelle Yeoh (Jiang Nan), among others.
